Biltmore Estate

On Tuesday we toured the famous Biltmore Estate. Completed in 1896, it was (and is?) the largest private home in the country. Built by the Vanderbilt family, it was modeled after the design of many European castles, but included state of the art features in the construction and amenities inside.  I think they said there are 250 rooms! It was pretty incredible.  They had an audio tour for adults, and also one for kids- the kid one was narrated by the Vanderbilt Family's St. Bernard, Cedric. Griffin got surprisingly into the audio tour! We spent entire day there, touring the house, the gardens, the stables, petting farm, and winery.

We topped the day off with homemade ice cream for Griffin and a wine tasting for us.

After the Biltmore, we met our friends the Bakers and their kids at the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company Taproom for dinner. Pretty impressive place, even though we didn't do a tour. We should also note that not only did the Bakers host us for 5 nights, but they also had two high school exchange students staying with them at the time! #besthostsever
