Week 2 of Preschool

After a nice weekend catching up on a little sleep and having some good quality mommy time, Griffin was ready to go back to school Monday morning. Steve is still in New Orleans but we're doing okay at home. On the way to school we talked about all the things do to at school and even about his new jacket, which he wore because the weather has cooled off a little. Unfortunately, when we got in the door of the classroom, it was another huge, instant meltdown! So I handed him off and left quickly.

The good news is, when I picked him up that afternoon, his teacher Ms. Samantha told me that he slept for 45 minutes at naptime, and ate lunch!! yahoo!!!! We made a very big deal about it to everyone, even called Daddy! But he had been crying in Ms. Samantha's lap when I arrived, because other parents had started to come and he was waiting for me and asking for me. When I walked in he really started crying and wanted to "go home!" But hey, at least he did well during the day!

Another exciting thing yesterday is that when we got home, we packed up all the binkies and made a nice present for Baby Lars. His teachers and I agreed that maybe it was time, and would help him napping during the day, since he can't have a binky at school. He has to learn to fall asleep without it. I told him that other babies needed binkies now and that he was a big boy. He said, "oh!! for baby Lars!" Who is the son of one of my friends that we saw about a week ago. One by one he put them in a nice gift bag and I told him that Baby Lars' mommy would pick them up later. It was all very exciting and fun until he actually went to bed, and then of course he was furious. He wailed in bed for almost an hour until he crashed. But this morning I told him how proud I was of him! And he told me that Baby Lars' mommy came to pick up his binky. So...maybe he gets it! I think we have a couple more rough nights ahead of us, but I know it'll work out.

This morning on the way to school he started crying when we pulled up in front of the school telling me, "go home!"  So that part is getting a bit worse, but hey- two steps forward, one step back, two steps forward......

When we got home yesterday he climbed back in the front seat of the car while I was getting my bag out. He loves driving the Rover, just like his daddy!
