True Story!

At one point while in the NICU, the neonatologist was reviewing treatment options with us for Griffin's low platelet count. Early on, steroids was one option they were considering. But when the doctor mentioned that, Steve, in all seriousness, said back to her, "I don't know, I have real concerns about the use of steroids. It will set his cycling career back by at least two years." The doctor just stared back at him like, "what???" Until a minute or two went by and I stepped in and said, "he's only kidding." The doctor sort of giggled with relief and just shook her head, moving on with her talk to us.

Today's been a good day so far- Griffin has been doing long stretches of sleep (3-5 hrs) at times which we're letting him go for. Today we spent a nice afternoon cuddled up in the easy chair with Balinese coffee, a bowl of fresh cherries, and the Prologue of the Tour de France on TV. Rock on, Lance, great time today! I'm waaay over the whole neglecting your wife and three kids, breaking your engagement with Sheryl Crow, and now having another kid anyway with random girlfriend.... you are indeed a true superman athlete. With a couple close friends battling cancer at the moment, seeing you ride today gives me so much powerful hope! And although there are a lot of great riders this year to cheer for, we'll always give a special shout out for you!
