Beach and a Bath

Yesterday we met up with friends late in the afternoon at our nearby beach. We're learning how our lives have changed in terms of our schedule, since Griffin's bedtime is pretty early (usually 6:30pm) and although we can mess with his naps some, bedtime seems to be non-negotiable most of the time. So we spent a couple hours hanging out, and then as bedtime approached, I took Griffin back home, gave him a bath, and put him to bed, while Steve stayed out with our friends and brought me take-out pad thai for dinner later. But of course, since Griffin is crawling now, he has less patience sitting and hanging out in his stroller than he used to- he wants to be free to roam! So we let him down to crawl on the sand a bit, and he loved it. We were a bit higher up from the water line than the other day, so the sand was pretty white and fine. He ended up covered in sand, with a bit in his mouth, and so we stripped him down and dunked him in the ocean a bit. It was pretty hot too, though not as hot as we expected it to be, and as it usually is in Phuket this time of year. He seems to be tolerating the heat pretty well, though the apartment is cool and we only go out and about once a day or so, maybe twice if we go for a swim.

One small problem we've had with our apartment is that it doesn't have a bathtub. We can take Griffin into the shower to wash him, but it takes both of us to do it and can be pretty tricky. So we went out and bought a big plastic tub from one of these places in Thailand that just sell tons of plastic stuff- plastic buckets, tubs, bins, baskets, plastic shelves, you name it, if it's in plastic, they sell it. We put it in the bottom of the shower stall, filled it up, and voila! baby bathtub! The hardest part is keeping Mr. I Can Stand Up Now sitting down in the tub.
