Wednesday of this past week was Thai New Year, called Songkran. It's essentially Buddhist new year- we celebrated it when we lived in Sri Lanka as well. But in Thailand specifically it is celebrated as a huge water festival. More like a water fight than a festival though- everyone takes to the streets with water guns and buckets of water and splashes everyone else, and then puts a little white baby powder on you- if they can catch you! We took Griffin over to a local restaurant/hang out that we used to go to regularly to check out the fun. As soon as he got splashed with water though- and I must admit, it was COLD water- he started crying!! I guess it was too much of a surprise, as we were sort of ambushed by all the little kids. Later he let them put a little powder on his face though.
