Easter Sunday in Thailand

Easter in Thailand, Phuket to be exact, is pretty low-key, even among expats. But we decided that we wanted to do something to celebrate, so we invited a few friends over for a simple brunch. Our friends Lesley and David have two kids, Katie (6) and Chris (10) so we were also happy to have a couple of kids around to make it a bit more fun. Because they're from the UK, the whole Easter basket/Easter bunny thing isn't really a big deal, but we did boil some eggs and set up an egg decorating station for them! Voila a bit of festive Easter egg-ness! Our friend Aaron also baked hot cross buns for the occasion...mmmmm. We didn't really do anything special for Griffin since he's too young to really understand, but we did don his special Easter chicky bib that Grandma bought him, and he feasted on a bit of pancake, egg and hot cross buns.

  Easter Chicky Bib....

Happily we can also report that his feeding strike is definitely over. I was just at a point of researching picky eaters, and starting to worry about what to do about the fact that in the couple of weeks since we'd arrived in Thailand, Griffin would only eat a few kinds of foods, and no finger foods at all. But sure enough, just as the research I did indicated, it was just a phase and poof- one day he decided he was ready to eat everything again.  There's pretty much no baby food in any of the super markets here, except for baby cereal, so I've had to make it all myself. Since I can't find anything like a teething biscuit or kids snack bars, I had to find a recipe on the internet and bake teething biscuits myself, which is a pretty big deal since I normally try to avoid any time in the kitchen at all.

Mmmmm mango.....
The carnage everywhere of trying new finger foods, many of which don't exactly make it IN his mouth....
